dear you,
i'm currently laying in the corner of our lounge room, against a large pillow (ya know, like the ones that are meant for dogs). the fairy lights are the only thing lighting the room, as i just sit a listen.
it's finally raining.
we've gone days, weeks, without a drop from the sky. the grass is brown and crunchy, the dirt easily lifts into the wind, the gardens wilt after a day of bright sun beating down on them. but now, at 1.40 a.m., a week before christmas, i hear and see the refreshment of rain.
there's a light, cool breeze flowing throughout the house. a gentle pitter-patter of raindrops falling upon the glass. and the sound of puddles splashing below car tires. as i look out the window, and down the street, i can see the eucalyptus trees sparkling-- a combination of wind and water tracing the leaves. bugs are talking amongst themselves, as i talk to you.
it's christmas time in canberra.
sincerely,
shae
