dear you,
there i was. sitting on a hand-me-down couch, with my hand-me-down shoes, hand-me-down jeans, and hand-me-down shirt, surrounded by others also enjoying hand-me-down this' and hand-me-down that's.
these girls and guys were engulfed in other people's stuff, other people's possessions, other people's belongings, other people's wants, needs, desires.
but suddenly,
these girls and guys revealed their most important, personal, unique possession: their faith. the songs they sang, the words they prayed, the stories they told, the message they presented--these things were not hand-me-downs. these things were authentically theirs. their love, their beliefs, their relationship, their wants, needs, desires.
and suddenly,
i realized that 18 to 20-something year-olds were taking time out of their relaxing weekend to stand and praise with each other, sit and pray with each other, eat and fellowship with each other. i was encouraged. i was inspired. i was refreshed.
sincerely,
shae

I am inspired. Thanks for sharing your reflections. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteDo you feel your assignment has been "working out" for you here in Canberra, Shea?
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed reading the latest entry in each of you interns' four blogs (which I heard about by reading Moriah's latest column in her blog.)
We want to invite you four over to our home or take you out to some place in Canberra where you haven't been yet. There is a LOT of good stuff around here to see - much of it free! Are any evenings free other than Thursdays (i.e. the night they suggested inviting you all over.)
