dear you,
now, i've never been a fan or rubbing things into people's faces or intentionally making them jealous, but this entire post will be taken that way. so...sorry?
on tuesday morning i left with my host-parents to travel 2.5 hours south. upon arrival, we proceeded to eat lunch, go for a walk, and lounge around for the afternoon. some might call it "relaxing." in the evening, we went for a drive, ending up at a restaurant eating fish 'n chips. all of the sudden, my eyes were opened and senses heightened....
i was sitting at a picnic table, looking out across a bay, with the sun setting behind me. the smell of fried fish and saltwater filled my nose, and the taste of passion fruit soft drink tickled my tongue. a gentle breeze grazed across my sun-kissed cheeks as the waves fell upon the rocks. later that evening, megan and i took a walk along the beach. the wet sand padded my bare feet as the waves chilled my toes. we then climbed on top of some rocks to watch a pack of dolphins feed and play, about 50 yds from the shore. i then spent the next two days following a similar routine: some beach time here, some amazing food there. some relaxing time here, some movie-watching there.
what, at first, seemed like a routine vacation out of town soon became a realization of how blessed i am for being where i am. it was another moment of reminding myself, "holy moly. i'm in freaking australia....!"
sincerely,
shae
